It does not matter if the photo is great, as long as it is not blurry, is related to D.C., and is otherwise appropriate then I will feature it. To submit a photo send me an e-mail at kjersti.wasiak@451press.net with the subject line of D.C. Photo. In the e-mail attach your photo and include your name, date of the photo (just month and year is necessary), website you want me to link to, and a description of the photo, especially including location of photo when it is not obvious.

This Weekend in D.C.

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

Cool Globes: Hot Ideas for a Cooler Planet: This Saturday, May 24, a new temporary exhibit opens at the United States Botanic Gardens. One of the main focuses of the exhibit are 40 globe sculptures. The title of the new exhibit is called One Planet - Ours! Sustainability for the 22nd Century. It continues until October 13, 2008, so there is plenty of time to get over there before it closes and probably less crowded opportunities than this Memorial Day weekend.

National Memorial Day Parade: The National Memorial Day parade is on Monday, May 26, at 2pm between the Capital and the White House on Constitution Avenue.

PBS National Memorial Day Concert: This concert is hosted by Gary Sinise (Mac on CSI: New York) and Joe Mantegna (David Rossi on Criminal Minds) and is held on the Capital West Lawn. This year’s concert will be on Sunday, May 25, at 8pm and if you cannot catch it in person check your local PBS station to watch it on television.

Check out weekend sports playing in D.C. on the Sports Events Coming Up This Week post.

These are just few events this weekend. If you have any that you know about in the D.C. area this weekend that you would like to share, then please let us know in a comment to this post.
