Nats @ Dbacks Game Wrap Up

by Kjersti Wasiak

Today I went to the Nats game. Now that I am back in AZ it is not as easy to get to Nats games, but I did manage to get to one of them here in AZ. Too bad it was not Friday’s game, though, when they actually won. Still gotta love a nice indoors summer baseball game when it is nearly 100 outdoors, but a cool 75 in the BOB, I mean Chase Field.

The Nats started the game with a small bang. Felipe Lopez made contact with the first pitch of the game and got a single. From there out, though, there were only 3 more hits and never more than one in an inning and no homers, thus no scoring.

The Dbacks on the other hand started out with a real bang there first time up in the game. The first two guys (Drew and Young) got singles including Drew also getting a stolen base. Then Orlando Hudson came up and hit a homer. And that was the end of the game for the Nats, basically, especially with the Dbacks adding another run in the 2nd (Snyder came in on a Wild Pitch) and Chad Tracy hitting a homer in the 3rd (actually kind of liked the last play because he is my favorite Dbacks player because I liked him when I used to watch him play as a Tucson Sidewinder).

Not the best game to attend as a Nats fan, but nevertheless better than listening to the Nats on XM radio. I cannot wait until I get back to D.C. for the last games of the regular season in September.

Oh, and it was an interesting game to attend in that it was Baxter’s (Dbacks mascot) birthday and they had an interesting pregame ceremony with other mascots coming out as attendees of the celebration. They had some other Phoenix sports mascots like the Phoenix Mercury guy as well as other MLB mascots like the Marlins mascot. Unfortunately, no Screech or President.
