Special Topic Tuesday: Washington Nationals New Park Part 1 - Eating

by

This weekend the Nationals played their first games at their new ballpark. They started the season off great and christened the park with an amazing win in the Opening Day game. I already wrote a post about the Opening Day happenings, but I have saved for today to give an in depth look at what the Nationals Park offers the fans. Since the topic of just eating in the new park developed into a pretty lengthly post, today is an extra special Tuesday with there being two posts. The second part about Entertainment, Shopping, and the View will be posted tonight.

Part 1: Eating

As expected food at a Major League Ballpark is high priced, but at least they have a whole lot of options here. They, however, have very crappy vegetarian options At least there are some good fries for vegetarians like me, especially the peanut oil ones at Five Guys. Plus the $7 fries at Five Guys is at least twice as much as you get for $5 at Boardwalk Fries. Also, they have not mastered handling the lines and serving fans in a timely manner. Additionally, the popcorn is horrible and to make it worse there was no salt and it was not hot.

Main Concourse Level

Left Field: Base Line Brews (beer), Boardwalk Fries (fries, chicken tenders), Noah’s Pretzels (hot dogs, Curly W pretzels), Red Hot & Blue (BBQ pork, brisket, sausage), Hard Times Café (wings, chili dogs, nachos)

3rd Base Line: Change Up Chicken, Grand Slam Grill, Ben’s Chili Bowl (chili dogs, burgers, half smokes), Nats Dogs (hot dogs, popcorn, Cracker Jack)

3rd Base: Taste of the Majors, Nats Dogs (hot dogs, popcorn, Cracker Jack), Slice Down the Line (pizza, wings, frozen treats), The Sweet Spot (ice cream, desserts)

1st Base: Capitol Cantina (nachos, burritos, tacos), Georgetown Grill (burgers, chicken tenders, fries), Nats Dogs (hot dogs, popcorn, Cracker Jack), Gifford’s Ice Cream

Club Level

3rd Base Line: Diamond Classics

Home Plate: Pat’s Pizza

1st Base: Anacostia Station

3rd Base: Slice Down the Line (pizza, wings, frozen treats), The Sweet Spot (ice cream, desserts), Nats Dogs (hot dogs, popcorn, Cracker Jack)

1st Base: Slice Down the Line (pizza, wings, frozen treats), Nats Dogs (hot dogs, popcorn, Cracker Jack), Grand Slam Grill

Best of all is that they are letting you bring in all food (official policy is they must be in single serving bags, such as Ziploc sandwich bags or single serving snack packages) and drinks (officially you can also only bring in juice boxes and 1 sealed bottle of water per person, but we got in with an open Diet Coke bottle, however do not count on this continuing as it could have been that the security people were different for opening day).
