Washington Nationals Play Final Game at RFK Stadium Today

The Washington Nationals brought baseball back to the Nation’s capital a few years ago and have been playing at RFK Stadium, which was once the home of the Washington Senators baseball team. Today is the Nationals last game of the 2007 season and at RFK Stadium, as next year they will be moving to their new stadium. Today gates open at 10:30am and there will be t-shirts for the first 30,000 fans. There will be former Washington Senator players at the game and the ceremonial first pitch will be thrown out by Dick Bosman, who pitched the final Washington Senators game at RFK Stadium back in 1971. After the game there are also events such as a season recap video, the removal of home plate to be relocated into the new stadium, a RFK Stadium tribute video, and fireworks. This game marks the end of an era of baseball at RFK, but with opening day next season an exciting new era will begin at their new stadium. RFK Stadium will be continued to be used by DC United for soccer matches, so the stadium still going to be used for sports.
